The 2nd annual Discover China-Professional Development Program

(Beijing - Qingdao)

A two-week program in China to help educators start or strengthen their institution's Chinese programs and partnerships. Highlights include school visits, cultural activities, meeting with Chinese educators, interacting with local Chinese students parents, and US K-12 students studying Chinese in China. Leaders from K-12 schools are invited to apply for this unique educational trip to China as guests of The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

Beijing 6/25 - 6/26 Leave for Beijing Beijing 6/27 - 7/03 6/27: Arrive in Beijing, check in hotel. Beijing Roast Duck dinner banquet with the leaders from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State. You will discover the culinary secrets in carving the duck and eat it Beijing style. 6/28: Cultural Activity: Hike the Great Wall. Explore the Beijing Olympic sites - the Bird Nest and Water Cube 6/29: AM: Meet with education officials from the Beijing municipality and district education commission PM: Visit school 6/30: AM: Visit to a Beijing Children Activity Center PM: Meet and interact with parents and students in Beijing 7/01: AM: Meet with education officials from the Beijing municipality and district education commission PM: Visit school Evening: attend a breathtaking Chinese acrobatic show that has been existed in China for thousand years. 7/02: Cultural Activity: Explore the Forbidden City and the Capital Museum. 7/03: AM: Visit school PM: Q&A session with Chinese students and parents Qingdao 7/04 - 7/07 7/04: AM: Transfer to Qingdao PM: Meet with local education officials 7/05: Full day: Educational conference with principals from varies schools in Shandong province 7/06: AM: Meet with local officials in charge of cultural exchange PM: Visit school 7/07: AM: Visit school PM: Meet with parents and students from schools in Qingdao 7/08 Back to Beijing 7/08 AM: Fly back to Beijing PM: Souvenirs shopping 7/09 Homebound flight
